trip to sd on pb

We wished each other a happy 3rd anniversary by exchanging cards...
fancy that! out of all the hundreds of cards that we could have purchased for the other, without knowing, we both chose the exact one! we must be in sync!)
we checked ourselves into the surfer hotel on pacific beach,
amongst many lovely things, enjoyed  fresh beautiful flowers,
relaxed by the majestic ocean and it's calm,
basked in the bright, bright sunshine waking us from our utah-january-inversion-winter-blues,
 shared togetherness and friendship,
lazed around without a tinge of guilt,
and admired beautiful sunsets, from our balcony

Thank you for 3 great years of marriage.
plus those 2 prior.
when we started building what we have...

sunshine to celebrate

Happy Anniversary to US! Three Years!
In celebration we will be sunning in CA.
On the beach, by the ocean.  Can't wait.

I'm ready for ocean calm,
Quality time with my man,
And the sun on my face, shining into my soul.

sunrise

On my way to work early this morning, the sunrise was spectacular! The photos thru my front windshield (taken with a shaky hand) don't do it justice.
but. I wanted to capture what I could.  It made me happy.

Ben and I planned a surprise dinner party for Chal on Sat.
Location: The Bailey's on Oakleaf
Chef: Laura Tademy
Menu: stuffed mushrooms, citrus caprese salad, variety of stuffed olives, assorted breads and oils, beet and fennel salad, honey glazed salmon with quinoa topped with veggie salsa, NY grilled steaks with creamy chive mashed potatoes,  and steamed broccoli, custard tarts topped with fresh fruit to sub for bday cake.

Needless to say, she was surrounded by wonderful food and good friends.
Cheers to my friend and to Laura who made it so great!

new decade for chal

Happy Birthday to my bf Chal.
Today is her day to embrace a new decade:
30
I've been at it for almost 5 years now, and I promise my dear friend, it will be OK!  It is not that bad.  Actually I have loved my 30's.  Cheers to happiness, fulfillment, and realization of dreams!  I love you!

cooking class

For Christmas Chal gifted me a cooking class at Sur La Table at Gateway.  We went Friday night on a little GNO, and had a great time.

We learned all about the prep of some fabulous fish dishes and sides.  If you are ever stumped on what to gift someone... look online at their class schedule.  It is a great gift idea, and a fun outing for you, loved ones, and friends.  Thanks Chal! I had a great time!

looking forward

(an email that I recieved... it's good)

IT WAS A TOUGH YEAR BUT I MADE IT!

But not everyone is as fortunate as I am.......

The economy is so bad that I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.

I ordered a burger at McDonald's, and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?"

CEO's are now playing miniature golf.

If the bank returns your check marked "insufficient funds" you have to call them and ask if they mean you or them .

Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.

McDonald's is selling the 1/4 'ouncer'.

Parents in Beverly Hills and Malibu are firing their nannies and learning their children's names.

A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico.

Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting.

Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore.

BP Oil laid off 25 Congressmen.

Congress says they are looking into the Bernard Madoff scandal. Oh Great!! The guy who made $50 Billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $1.5 Trillion disappear!

And, finally...

I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, and our bleak future, that I called the Suicide Lifeline and was connected to a call center in Pakistan. When I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.

HAVE A FANTASTIC 2011

homemade treats

My neighbor gave us some homemade doggie treats.  Bogey loved them.  I had never thought of making them before, but thought on my weekend off that I'd give it a whirl.  The puppy loves them.  He stood next to me at my feet the whole 2 hours I was in the kitchen baking them.  I have no idea how he knew they were for him, but somehow he did.  At least my hard work is appreciated.  It was kind of fun, but I doubt I'll make them again.  It took too long!

Oat, cornmeal, beef, cheddar bones & Sesame, walnut, lemon bites.

1 - 1 - 11

It is Caleb's 7th birthday today! I can't believe it! We went over for a little celebration in his honor.
and... since Bogey turned 1 on the 29th, Caleb invited him over to celebrate as well.  He even scored a couple new stuffed toys with squeakers (his favorite) and some treats.
Both boys got spoiled with lots of love, attention, and gifts.
Happy birthday!
