just in case

A couple weeks ago I was thinking about life saving measures, and how confident I would be to preform any of them if needs be.  I know that none of us want to be involved in an accident, or have something tragic happen to us or someone we love....BUT, the bottom line is: we just never know.

I think in light of recent happenings in my life: becoming a new mother, and loosing people I love, it has made me more aware of my lack of preparedness when it comes to first aid and CPR.   So, I contacted the local Red Cross and signed up for a course.  It included 8 lessons online that had to be completed with tests after each lesson.  Then the actual hands on 2 hour class was this past Friday morning.  The course taught all about first aid, choking, and adult, child, and infant CPR.  It was  really enlightening and informational. I recommend it to anyone who wants to brush up on their knowledge.  The last time I did anything like this was in High School, and things and procedures have changed quite a bit since then.  I hope I don't ever have to use any of what I learned, but if I do, I will be relieved that I took the time to learn.

night time

I love our night time routine with Dare.
Bath. Jammies. Milk Chugs. Rock. Crib. Sing. Sleep.
He's so peaceful and sweet.
I am glad I am getting off work early enough so that I can have this time with him.

sheared

DARE'S FIRST HAIRCUT!
He has a buzz cut now!
His hair was all splotchy and uneven, and we want it to grow in all at the same time.  My friends at work who do hair have all told me that the best thing for a baby, boy or girl, is to just buzz it all off and start fresh.  So, we gave him 2 months with his skullett, and then daddy took the shears to it!
He was so good.  We waited for Auntie T to come over, so that she could capture the moment.
Before we started

ALL done!

And, his doggy brother bogey got a haircut on the same day. Mama with her two groomed boys!

getting loves from auntie t after she bathed him and got him all ready for bed

He's one loved little guy.

It was a beautiful setting for a beautiful couple in so many ways.  My hat is off to Lorraine for planning and organizing such a gorgeous wedding.
It was perfect.

why i do it

I was thinking about my blog for some reason today, and I asked myself why I bother?  The most obvious reason to me is because I dislike scrapbooking very much, but I love photos because they capture my memories that I would forget.  So, my blog is an easy place for me to store all of them where they are safe, and in one place.  But, other than that, why do I do it?  I came to the realization that my blog makes me happy.  Although all are welcome to visit "andhannie", and I invite anyone to do so that so cares, I really would not care if I were the only one to ever visit the site.  I do it for me, and for my family.  It is a way for me to focus on what I have, instead of what I lack.  It is a method for me to express my gratitude, and to visually see my blessings.  For that, I am grateful that I have kept this journal.  And, I am grateful to those who have shared it with me, becasue sharing makes me happy.  Nuff said!

fathers day

Happy Father's day to my new favorite daddy!  Dare gave him a card and a book, and he is so excited for his dad to have storytime with him every night!

I was trying to get him to "pose" so I could get a close up of his shirt that his cousins gave him.  But, you get what you get with wobbly little babies!

changing

We are so enjoying this little guy.  He is getting so much more responsive, and has a lot more awake time throughout the day.  He smiles, coos, makes eye contact, recognizes us, and plays.

And, we have really been enjoying our extended living space outside, especially with our new patio furniture.   We LOVE this time of year!
