skin caring

This may be useful for you ladies out there. I am continually surprised at how many of you are not taking proper care of your skin. I am a vain person, and I admit that I spend a lot of time in front of the mirror in the morning and night, caring for my skin and grooming. My husband likes to give me a hard time about it, but I tell him that it is all for a good cause. I am caring for my skin to slow down the aging! Girls, you need to do the same! It may seem like a pain in the ass, but really, it's not that hard. Here are a few facts. Cleansing the skin is essential to avoid acne and other skin problems. Wash your face and neck using a mild face wash morning and night. It is important to get rid of any impurities such as dirt and make up before going to sleep so that your skin can breathe properly at night. Toning the face and neck further cleanses the skin and also cools, nourishes, hydrates, and freshens your skin. It also tightens up the skin and closes any skin pores that may have opened up while cleansing the face. Make sure it is alcohol free, as alcohol dries the skin, causing it to produce excess oils. Exfoliating the face and neck removes dead skin cells, rejuvenates the skin, and helps eliminate fine lines and wrinkles from the face. Younger skin surfaces after exfoliation and leaves the skin looking more beautiful and glowing. This should be done twice a week. Moisturizing the face and neck is essential. Our skin needs proper hydration and nutrients to keep it healthy. Treat it with a good moisturizer that contains at least SPF 15 daily, and a night cream that will help restore the skin and protect it from damage that may occur at night. EYES Ladies, do you take care of the skin around your eyes? Skin around the eyes is different from our face, scalp, and bodies. It has no sebacious glands, which makes it highly prone to dryness. It is much thinner and more sensitive than facial skin. It overlies a dense capillary area and has minimal fat padding. It is stressed by frequent eye movement, squinting, and rubbing. ALL of this makes the eye area the first place where signs of aging appear on the face. The faces of a 25 year old 35 year old usually differ primarily in the eye area. Thirty five year olds are a lot more likely to have fine lines and bags under the eyes; some will even have crows feet. AHH!!! So, my point is, take care of your eyes with a special eye cream, and only apply that cream with your ring fingers! For proper care of the eye area, do not touch the area around your eyes with any other fingers or objects. This is not a post to promote a certain product line, rather good information for all of us aging beauties. Take care of that skin!!! Here are a few lines that I can suggest you look into if you are wondering where to start with your skin care regiment. Thanks mom for teaching me at a young age to care for my skin and for spending the extra money on good products so that I could!

wedding crashers...kendra style

A couple months ago my friend Kendra contacted me and told me that she wanted to throw a non-traditional birthday party for her husband Dan. The theme? Wedding Crashers. We were all instructed to wear wedding apparel. So, last night was the big shin dig up at the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird. We had a lot of fun preparing for the event, shopping on the Internet, sale racks, and our favorite, the local DI's. Chal and I both ended up wearing dresses from DI... I actually wore two. I started the night out in one, and ended in another. Although the men were definitely not as thrilled to play dress up, they were great sports, and if they are honest, they'll tell you they had a good time. It was entertaining, to say the least... Here are a few photos...
Disclaimer: for all you judgies out there, look no further unless you can open your minds and realize this was a COSTUME party. Love you Chal.

whoa nelly!

This is how it's done in them there parts down yonder... Alton, Utah. Small town USA.

nature

No lions, no tigers, no bears.... thank God! Just butterflies, fish, elk, rattlesnakes, horny toads, a badger (yes we saw one!) an assortment of bugs, ants, and spiders, birds, owls, coyotes, a gazillion deer, and breathtaking nature.

camping

Our first night at our campsite in Dixie Nat'l ForestHere is Ry whittling away at our hot dog roasting sticksRelaxing in our new, temporary, and quite comfortable home This one is for you Gayle. See my citronella buttons? Sorry to say the bees, flies, and mosquito's still chased me. I must be too sweet! I have never seen him in action, so I had to capture a few moments of my man fly fishing... it kinda turned me on... Hiking into a sand cave outside of Kanab with Tay These are some of the horses that Jordan takes care of at Zion Mountain Resort. He works so hard almost every day taking people on guided horseback rides. He said on his last paycheck he had 33 hours of overtime!
I guess now that you're 18 those child labor laws don't mean squat, huh bud? Ok, so here is Ryan dozing off by the fire, enjoying nature and the little escape from chaos....Meanwhile, Jordan sits nearby texting away! We can't get away from technology, can we?
Overall, we actually enjoyed our trip. It was a nice change to get out and rough it, get dirty, and spend some QT together. I have to say that I suprised my husband. He didn't think I would survive... little did he know, I have many dimensions...
