Chal's shower for Navy was on Saturday.  It was all set up and ready to go for a nice backyard celebration, and mother nature decided to spit upon us.  My fabulous sissies, and great friends Tara and Lorraine helped me scramble at the last minute, and we moved everything into the garage.  Not so fabulous, but at least out of the wind and rain. 

We were able to spread outside after a bit.  I am sure it was fine for everyone who came, but being the hostess and planner, I was pretty bummed.

It was something that we wanted to do from the start, but we had to prioritize our projects!

Ryan, Dare, and I went to the AVP volleyball tournament in Liberty Park over the weekend.  It was way cool to see some of the Olympic players compete, like Kerri Jennings and Jake Gibb,  and also see some of those who may be the up and coming.  Because it was the first year for SLC to host, it will be interesting to see it grow, become more popular, and a much bigger venue. It was a fun afternoon, and dare was a trooper.

neighbor camp

Every first weekend of August a bunch of our neighbors (about 10-12 couples and families) go camping together. One of the couples does ALL the food, and all we have to do is show up and pay them.  It is soo easy.  We have always been invited, but until this year, we have never gone.  We decided to go check it out, and although we only stayed one night, it was nice to get away, and great to get to know some of our neighbors better.

The kids had fun with it, and then later decided to build something out of the pieces.

sleepover

We had the Wilde's for a sleepover last night so that their mom and dad could have a night out, and a FULL night of sleep.   Dare was totally cool with it. He loved sharing his "recliner" with his gf.

 

And the boys hung out in the man cave with Ryan, watching movies til midnight.

(But, they did sleep in til 9 am.)

Dare and I went over to visit Chal and Navy tonight.  We had to capture the moment.  The very beginnings of an arranged marriage.  Wink

 

Amazing what a difference there is between a 2 week old and a 14 week old....(who btw, is wearing 6-9 month clothes!!)

year mark

A year ago today (the first Sunday of August 2012), thanks to Dr. Hammoud and his staff at the U of U, technology, and the divine,  I became pregnant with Dare. It is amazing to think that one of these, is what is now him today. 

A miracle.

  And, we were so very nervous 365 days ago, not knowing how this would all turn out....

 

Now look at our baby boy.  So peaceful and sweet, after chugging a bottle tonight.

 

 

He's already saying to me "Don't worry mom, I've got this all handled. I'm 3 months old, and telling everyone to 'peace out!'"

So amazing what can happen in a years time....

 

And, we love him more than we could have ever imagined.
