horse and flowers

We went to the IFA on a rainy Saturday to check a few things out.  We saw this 10 cent horsie, and couldn't resist!  Dare was not so sure about it!

Just a pic of my what sweet husband arranged for me with flowers from our yard.  I came home on Thursday to this.

this and that

Gary came over and brought a big bin of Lincoln logs for Dare to play with.  They are from his son Andrew when he was younger.  Apparently for the moment, Dare will just have a "cigar" ;)

We went to Alden's soccer game one Saturday morning, and the favorite for Dare, even above and beyond the balls, were the sheep on the other side of the playground!

Papa Foutz gave Dare a haircut.  It was much needed.  I'm not sure little D thought so, but with the distractions of Uncle Spud, Aunties CC and Mij, and the straight jacket that his mama provided with her big, strong,  mean muscles, he managed ok!
Like father, like son.  Nuff said...

work

Ryan has been hard at work trying to get our yard cleaned up and pruned before the weather changes.  I helped out a little bit last Saturday, but for the most part, he has been a one man crew!  And so BUSY!

Here is the load we took to the dump... and this is the second one!  Ryan took one earlier just like this one all on his own.  Dare had fun running around all the garbage.  Little boys....

The last of our apple crop for the season.  The tree is now a quarter the size it was, due to the major haircut that Ryan gave her! Hopefully she'll fill out next spring/summer.  It is kind of sad right now!
We saved some of the apples, and on our way home from the dump, we stopped on the side of the road and let Dare feed them to the horses.  They are so pretty!

Ryan and my Dad went up into the Uintahs a few weeks ago and brought back about 3.5 cords of wood that they chopped down.  He has a ton of logs to cut now!

hogle zoo

We went to the Zoo a couple weeks ago.  The first thing we had to do was get a photo with Dare in front of the lion drinking fountain that Ryan remembers from his own childhood.

naked. kisses. curious.

Some of Dare's favorite things.
To be naked.  Whenever possible.

To give kisses. To everyone.  Including animals.  And himself.  The mirror is perfect for kisses to himself.  Especially if it is the chrome bumper on daddy's truck.

To "help" and be curious about everything that mom is doing.  Even when she is emptying the big box of kcups into the cabinet in the kitchen.  He must play with whatever it is that mom has!

fair

Ryan's employer sponsored an evening at the fair for all employees who wanted to attend.  We thought we would take Dare so that he could see the animals in REAL LIFE, instead of all the plastic ones that we play with every night at bath time.  At first he was really tentative and unsure of the huge creatures.  But, after a few minutes he warmed up and was making friends with the sheep, goats, cows, ponies, ducks, chickens, roosters, turkeys, and all the people.  My favorite animal was a cow named Carmel.  She was so pretty.  She had the shiniest coat, the prettiest coloring, and the most amazing lashes.  Plus, she was so nice and calm.  She let Dare grab her and touch her, never even flinching or showing any type of irritation or aggression.  She was a good one.

Zooming in on Carmel still doesn't do her justice! Her coat is really shiny and her lashes are so spectacular! But, I think you can see how gentle and kind she is.  What a sweet animal!

our boy

Another random mix of our boy, just being his silly self.

He stole my coke can out of the trash, and was trying to drink the last few drops when I caught him in the act!
Yes, that would be our son climbing where it says "no climbing" ;)

Here at the Bailyhood, we love a good summer.  And we have had one more reason this summer to love it even more.  Little D made it in so many ways.  He has changed so much, and is now more a boy than our little baby.  Time goes fast when you are having fun!

first time at real game

It's a crazy thing, but in all the years that the Salt Lake Real have had their staduim in Sandy, we have never gone to a game! Thanks to our buddy Brock, he gave us his tickets to a game he was unable to attend.  It was actaully a great venue, and made us want to go back again! It wasn't such a bad thing that the Real won that night too!

visiting the uhinkhood

We boarded a jet plane in mid August and headed to Charlotte NC to visit our great friends Melissa and Heiko, and their sons Leo and Lucas.  We were really excited to see Lucas, who was only 3 months old!

Dare was ready to go as we headed for the airport!
The moving walkway is for your traveling convenience.... or for little boys who need to stretch their legs and burn off some steam in Chicago!
Sunday brunch!
Pool time!
The boys with Heiko before the pool
playtime in the laundry basket...why not?
both boys love playing in the balls!
bath time is always a fave!  And Lucas was so good!  He is such a good and mellow baby!
happy.  happy.  happy.
Thank you to the Uhinks for hosting us and sharing your home and lives with us for those few days!  It is great to have friends to visit, that no matter how much time has passed since the last visit, you just pick up and resume, as if it were just yesterday that we were all together!  There is a comfort in that kind of friendship.  It will be fun to watch the boys as they grow.  Each visit they will play more together, and develop a stronger bond, I am sure.
