k2

When we go, this is where we go. We love it. It has been a gradual thing for Ry. I think I just inherently feel more of a need for the God connection than he does, but he is such a good man and he knows that balance is good. So on Saturday when he looked at me and said "I want to go to church tomorrow" it felt good to not be the prodder, but the prodded. The lesson was on integrity... something that is always good to re hash. Afterwards as we were chatting and sharing our feelings on the subject we both admitted that although we feel we are very honest people, it was nice to be reminded of the great importance and role that integrity holds in our lives. Andy (one of the pastors and the speaker that day) gave us these cards afterwards and told us to carry them around with us in our purses or wallets. It is Philippians 4:8, cuz it is kind of hard to read. On the other side it looks like a playing card. Kind of cool. We both have ours in our wallets. I know you're super jealous, so if you want one I'll get you one too! ;)

arts downtown

This past weekend was the Arts Festival downtown. Ryan and I went for just a couple hours on Saturday night and enjoyed the concert on the main stage with "The Disco Drippers" They were so good and we had a great time dancing and hanging out. Then Sunday night we went back. We were able to catch the performance of this group called Samba Fogo on the steps outside of the Library. They were way cool. I don't know much about them, but I know it is a Brazilian dance style with drums, fights, and fire. It was incredible.
We then went over to the Amphitheatre stage and watched this group preform their last five pieces. I was impressed.
So, if you did not make it out to the Arts Fest this year, you missed out. SLC is big time baby! They did a wonderful job! Be sure to tune in next year. Or, maybe check the one out in PC in a few weeks.
PS: It was a great place to reconnect with a ton of people. Everywhere we turned there was someone else that I knew or Ryan knew... random people that we haven't seen in forever. So between the good (naughty) food, eclectic art, and people watching, it's worth the entry!

thrift

I LOVE to thrift. When I was young and living in Ohio my favorite places to frequent were The Village in Cuyahoga Falls (by far the best!), Goodwill, and The Salvation Army. I love a good deal and I loved the idea of getting a lot more for less. After I moved to Utah I kind of fell out of the thrifting habit, mostly because I did not know where to go, and the only place here... The DI seemed ghetto to me. So for the past 10 years I have just shopped the sale racks at my favorite spots. When I moved in with Ryan a year and a half ago, the easiest way to describe where I live to others was to say "we're in the condos in Centerville right across from the DI." Now that the thrift store is so accessible to me, I have found myself going back to my old thrifting ways, looking for treasures. I mostly buy containers that I turn into really cool vases for fresh flowers, and a few random items here and there. About three weeks ago I was wandering around in the used furniture area and I spotted this really sweet table. I saw so much potential for this 'hunk of junk' and went home to tell Ryan all about it. He never saw it, only heard the description, and that "it is ONLY $35.00!!, can you believe it?" The next day I pulled into the garage after work, and this is what was waiting for me!
The signs said "This is because I love you"

When I walked in the house I was laughing and all excited and he simply said "Babe, that is the biggest piece of shit I have ever seen! You hate gold!"

Little did he know what I had planned for it. Here is my final result. I am quite pleased!

Until my next visit... we'll see what another man's junk turns into for us on round two!

Carmie, Spud, Mij, Jake, Rocko, and me...that's more like it actually...
I just want to give a shout out to my sibs. I love you guys so much. You really are the coolest, and Jake I didn't mean to color on your face.... oops. Oh well, that's for all the times you have shoved me in the trunk, called me t-rex, and stolen my dinner off my plate. And by the way bro, I hope you're well in the sweltering heat of Iraq. I pray everyday for that. As for the rest of you, be good and don't disappoint me with your preps for our september bash! ;)

adios a brock

Brock (he's a Wright, the bro of my BQ sisters) is leaving on Wednesday to serve the Lord in Mexico. He spoke in church today and did a fab job. He will be great with the people. There was a little somethin somethin at the compound located on the Holy Land after his meeting. Here are a few photos of the event.
The entry to the fiesta. Lots of visiting, lots of food, lots of treats, lots of "pop", lots of kids, but mostly, lots of love.
Ry starring at Cocos mexican mumu, and Chal and Ben contemplating when and where the next procreation vacation will take place. ...humm.. will it be lake powell in september!?
Papa Vegas being the perfect host that he always is! We love you WJ!!
(see Chal's blog for explanation!)
Best wishes B! I am sure you will have a great 2 years. Then you can come home and make babies with your BQ Shoshawna!

bees

We went to the Bee's game on Saturday night with some friends. Although we were mostly busy socializing instead of watching the game, we did have a good time. I want to go again. It was just a way mellow evening and kind of relaxing to sit there, people watch, talk to others, and catch a few glimpses of the game here and there! Go Bees! We did win!

i caved!

I am a HUGE fan of roller coasters. I grew up going to Cedar Point every summer at least once, but usually more than that. If you have not heard of the place or have never been, I am sorry... you unlucky soul! It is one of my favorite spots. Redneck and all. I just love it. When I moved to Utah, I vowed that I would never pay a cent to enter the premise of Lagoon, let alone ride their ever so lame versions of roller coasters. They don't hold a candle to my holiest of holy CP. Ryan gets so sick of my reminders of how cool it really is there... but someday he too will experience the bliss, I am determined. All of you out there that have been to Cedar Point know what I am talking about! Anyway, his best friend Gary and wife Jennifer lent us their season passports to Lagoon, so.. I CAVED!! We went to Lagoon on Saturday morning. Ya know, it wasn't that bad. The reason being, I love so much hanging out with Ry, that no matter what we are doing, it is pretty much guaranteed to be fun, and this was no different. Here I am "nervously" waiting in line for the coolest of cool rides... the wild mouse! For some reason it is Ryan's favorite ride. It's nostalgic from his childhood. That is the only reason it could ever be any ones favorite ride because it is so stupid! But, we made it fun, and I even screamed for the effect! Here we are riding the steam train thru the park and wild animal kingdom.
Ry wanted me to prove that I actually WAS tall enough to ride the rocket!
So, there you have it! A few highlights of my first visit to Lagoon.

fun at coco's

I did inventory of my makeup a couple weeks ago and have been carrying around this bag of eyeshadows, liners, lip colors, and other stuff that I wasn't using. My intention was to give it to someone and it has just sat in the back of my car instead. So, when I arrived at Coco's on Friday afternoon and all the beauty queens were having a hang out I seized the moment and gladly deposited the bag into Chal's lap. Here is the outcome. The girls had so much fun getting glammed up. I am glad my extras went to good use! The second generation of Wright BQ"S
Rockwell chowing down on strawberries
Teeners having a break from the diaps... my poor bubbers had the worst rash.

Hanging out on the Holy Land is always lots of fun....and even more so when the AZ crew stops in for a visit.

my bubbers...

Any small person, usually boys, whom I love, adore, and simply cannot get enough of; they are all my "bubbers". So here is my bubbers Caleb helping me give his mom (my sis Carmen) a massage as I am finishing up her pedicure. I was trying to teach him how to better take care of his mother that I am sure he sucks the life out of every day! But, oh so hard not to love.
After I was done and cleaning up he kept begging me to paint his nails bright blue. I told him several times that it was a girl polish. "No, it not, blue is for boys" So after a few warnings from his mom that if he painted his nails, his older brother Zach was going to beat him up, he still insisted, saying "no he not beat me up!"
Happy Caleb drying and showing off his bright blue nails...
I'm curious to see how long it lasted...
I love you bubs!

father's day weekend in vegas

Chal and I decided at the last minute that why not?, let's take our boys to Vegas. We really thought that my hotel snobbery was being completely flushed down the toilet as we swallowed our pride and booked our stay at TI (the reinvented Treasure Island). We have just always thought it to be a somewhat ghetto hotel. But, actually, we were pleasantly suprised. Now, I wouldn't go as far to say that it was AMAZING, but it was great, and perfect for what we wanted. The rooms were nice and clean and the amenities were very accomodating. Plus, the fact that it is across the street from Fashion Show Mall isn't a horrible situation. The majority of our days were spent at the pool. It was way fun. The DJ was rockin' all day long until 6 pm, but by then we were pretty much water logged, so it was ok.

Chal and Bennie
Me and Ry
Playin' in the pool

My two BF's...
After our pool time came indulgence. In food and cards.
Ok, so seriously, I'm a fan, I love red meat. So does Ry. But, holy hell! We were so glad we only ordered one steak.... the cowboy cut rib-eye. It was half a cow! Not really, but it was HUGE! Even the two of us could not finish it. It was a great restuarant though, so thanks Bennie for sharing your fav spot with us!
The cards played out ok. I think better for the Wilde party then the Bailey party...they were a bit smarter... or something... It's always a gamble and fun was had. The dealers were killing us. If you are ever at TI, play with Toni, Wony, Della, and Fransico. They were the most fun. Cheers!!
Happy Father's Day!

a good weekend

this past weekend was so nice. ry and i were at lunch on sunday afternoon just chatting about how nice it has been to hang out with different people, in different venues, and meet new friends. here we are on saturday night...right before i "busted my move" or as ryan puts it "you take your assumed dance position.." (i only know one way to dance when i feel the beat, and eveyone knows what it is...i really should take lessons or something!)sunday morning we met brett and kids at oak hills elementary and played in the sunshine for awhile. it was nice to finally feel the sun beat down on us and enjoy the semi-summer weather.
aldon with uncle ryan
keegen with my shoes... doesn't he melt your heart?
kate begging dad to "hide one more time..PLEEEEEZE" before they had to go.
i don't have photos but sunday afternoon i spent my first time on a golf course. i have never gone before, and although i was only ryan's chauffeur in the cart, it was actually fun. so, sorry matt and jared for raining on the boys golf day! ...good times...

so good...

yesterday morning i admit i was on one. i was just having a few needy moments and needed some extra tlc. one of the many reasons why i love my main man so much is that at moments like these, when most men would roll their eyes and walk out of the room, he instead looked at me and just said "ok princess it's all about you today, whatever you want, today is "official princess hannie day." i just love him. so, he called me at lunch asking how his little princess was, and because i was allowed to be a snot, i asked him what he was going to do for me and what else he had planned for me. well, when i got home on the counter was this: with a card next to it that was the sweetest thing ever. he also agreed to go out with me and my girlfriends for a girls night out. .. he was the hit of the night; they love him. here were are having fun with my best friend ever..ry. I really am lucky to have him. thanks baby!! jamey, me, annette, ry
ps.. he arranged the flowers himself and has officially decided that the gerber daisey is his favorite flower... how cute it that? and, if you notice the sand in the bottom of the vase... that is from laguna beach, from our recent trip. he got very creative.
